Saxophonist Ron Kieper

ABOUT RON
Ron is native to Northern Idaho, and still lives there today. He began playing alto at age 12 and received his BA in Saxophone Performance in 2002 from Eastern Washington University, winning EWU's Jazz Arranging Competition both years he was there. Through the years, Ron has performed extensively throughout the Inland Northwest with the "who's who" of this region. He plays in a variety of musical settings (from duos to quartets to big band) and is a frequently requested solo guest artist. In addition to his live performances, Ron released his debut album, Nothing Major, featuring a number of his original compositions in 2010. Ron maintains a private studio of saxophone students, who are continually ranked among the top high school saxophonists in the state of Idaho, and has been a jazz clinician and adjudicator for the Idaho Solo & Ensemble Festival and music director for the Spokane All City Jazz Ensembles Program. Ron currently sits in the lead alto chair for the Bob Curnow Big Band, acts as manager and music copyist for Sierra Music Publications and is the founder of the Saxophone Experience.
